School Field Trips
The Kings River Conservancy is excited to offer experiential learning opportunities for local 1st-5th grade students! Join us on a field trip at the Kings River Wildlife Area to enhance your classroom learning with observation of real world phenomena along the banks of the beautiful Kings River!

General Information
Dates: Trips are offered on select Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. You will choose your preferred date on the field trip request form. If that date has already been booked or is otherwise not available, a KRC staff member will follow up to determine an alternate date.

Time/Duration: Trips typically last 4 hours and take place between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm and include time for a picnic lunch on site. If you need a different timeframe or duration please note that in the field trip request form.

Location: All field trips take place at the Kings River Wildlife located just below Pine Flat Dam (27709 Pine Flat Rd, Piedra, CA 93649).
​
Cost: $225/classroom (up to 30 students per classroom), maximum of 3 classrooms per trip. Fees include all activity supplies and materials, staff docents for each activity, and a reusable cup for each student to take home.
Curriculum and Activities
During the trip your classroom will participate in four activities, each of which is aligned to NGSS standards for grades 1-5. Click the name of the activity below to see the activity description and NGSS correlations for each grade level:

*Note: if river conditions are dangerous, Aquatic Investigations may be substituted for another hands-on exploration activity.
